The defunct Grampanchayat Bellampalli has been constituted as Notified Area Committee Bellampalli vide G.O.M.S. No. 48/M.A.,Date:31-01-1987 and consequently converted as 2rd Grade Municipality in the year 1987 The population of the Municipality as per 2011 census 56396, Geographical area of the Municipality13.84 Sq.Kmts.

The town is located on Broad-gauge line of Delhi to Hyderabad. The town is also situated on Hyderabad – Chanda State Highway Road with a distance of 300 Kms.,
